Case snapshots

Complex mandates rarely stay in one lane.

High-stakes disputes rarely turn on one issue alone. Legal rights, facts, assets, reputation, politics, security and capital can all affect the route to resolution. AMROR helps clients see the whole field and sequence action around the outcome that can realistically be achieved.

Winding road through exposed mountain terrain

Representative examples from complex, sensitive mandates where strategy, risk, law, intelligence, forensics and diplomacy were brought together around the facts.

The examples below are representative and anonymised. Details may be aggregated or adapted to preserve confidentiality while illustrating the type of strategic work undertaken by AMROR's principals and network.

Disputes / Government Investigation / Reputation

Defending a strategic fuel contract

A fuel supplier to a Central Asian transit centre, operating under a U.S. Department of Defence contract, became the subject of a far-reaching government and regulatory investigation across two continents.

Set against political upheaval and diplomatic tension, the unfounded allegations carried acute financial and reputational risk. Through coordinated legal strategy, targeted intelligence gathering and discreet stakeholder engagement, exposure was contained and the contractual position was robustly defended.

Family Office / Negotiation / Private Capital

Resolving a global family rift

A valuable family company was held by estranged siblings across continents, with communications conducted only through lawyers. In a separate matter, two families bound by marriage were divided by legacy and inheritance issues in a jurisdiction where politics were personal and volatile.

In each case, the issues, interests and allies were mapped before points of common ground were identified. The resolutions required sustained work, diplomacy, patience and absolute discretion.

Reputation / Intelligence / Media Response

Rapid crisis response

When a malicious rumour concerning a Geneva-based client spread rapidly online, the response needed to be immediate, evidenced and discreetly coordinated across jurisdictions.

A mix of real-time media management, legal action and targeted intelligence established the facts, supported platform takedowns and enabled senior stakeholder engagement. Within two weeks, the falsehood had been neutralised and the client's reputation strengthened.

Intelligence / Asset Recovery / Security Risk

Disrupting extremist networks

In West Africa, a sensitive mandate concerned the power structures behind extremist networks whose financiers and facilitators operated at arm's length and across borders.

The task was to identify those figures and develop lawful disruption options. Intelligence, legal tools and strategic pressure were combined to support asset tracing, injunction planning and engagement with relevant state authorities. The work was staged, carefully controlled and designed to support proportionate action against individuals operating behind the visible extremist infrastructure.

Sanctions / Asset Tracing / Geopolitics

Tracking sanctioned wealth

A European government required assistance in relation to an oligarch whose companies were connected to support for a controversial regime, despite limited sanctions pressure in the UK.

Drawing on commodities-sector knowledge and prior hedge fund work, global business interests were mapped and a discreetly held art collection was identified. The work combined open-source intelligence, filings analysis and discreet enquiries to show how luxury and cultural assets can be used to protect value in high-risk geopolitical contexts.

Sovereign / Crisis / Control of Assets

Securing a foreign mission in crisis

When political opponents took control of the London office of a foreign state during civil conflict, the building contained sensitive documents and valuable commercial assets.

A legal, intelligence and security team was assembled urgently. The priority was to protect sensitive materials, secure the premises and initiate proceedings to have the client's interest formally recognised. Control was restored quickly while the legal position was advanced.

Our approach

Every matter begins with the terrain, not the label.

We assess who has influence, where assets and leverage sit, what risks need to be contained, and what outcomes are realistically available. From there, we bring together the right mix of legal, intelligence, investigative, commercial and strategic tools to move the matter forward.
